HKS Electronics

HKS Electronics have been developed after years of cutting edge research on tough competition requirements, which enables us to offer exceptional performance and extreme reliability for any application you can think of. HKS offers electronic boost controllers, grounding kits, lap timer displays and turbo timers- true to its "Driving Performance" philosophy.

1. HKS EVC Boost controller:

HKS released the original EVC in the year 1987, which was the first commercially available electronic boost controller, and revolutionized the aftermarket industry. HKS’ knowledge of the following 20+ years and five generations the EVC has been through, has been harnessed into this all-new EVC 6.

The new HKS EVC has improved boost stability for maintaining pressure at high RPMs providing increased top-end power, and a new mapping feature allows boost pressure to be precisely tuned for throttle + RPM (or vehicle speed). The new EVC also offers a selectable kPa or PSI unit of measure, and a unique warning feature where if over boosting occurs, boost pressure can be programmed to drop to a user preset level. The new target boost setting and volume knob with three button user interface makes setup and tuning intuitive and simple. The design of the new EVC features a sleek black case with a clear acrylic faceplate and a positive lit LCD display offering a sophisticated look.

Features:

High Boost Capability

* 250kPa/36PSI

Target Boost

* User inputs target boost level, and the EVC automatically adjusts pressure to reach desired level.

Offset Function

* If boost exceeds or does not achieve user’s target, boost pressure can be offset to reach desired level.

Map Correction Mode

* Boost pressure can be fine tuned for: Throttle Position, RPM, Vehicle Speed, Throttle Position + RPM, or Throttle Position + Vehicle Speed.

Dual Boost Mode Settings

* Separate A and B boost levels can be input independently from each other, and selected depending on driving conditions.

Scramble Boost Function

* When the scramble boost trigger is depressed a preset boost increase will occur for a predetermined time (0-60seconds).
* External Scramble Boost Trigger compatible.

Metric or SAE selectable monitoring

* Users can choose during initial setup metric (kPa) or SAE (PSI) boost pressure measurement for monitoring.

Warning Function with Boost Drop Feature

* A user preset warning level can be set where visual and audible alerts occur if the warning level is reached. Boost pressure can be preset to drop to a user defined level if pressure reaches warning level.

Analog and Digital Boost Monitoring

* Boost pressure can be displayed in both an analog bar graph format and a digital numerical value.

Additional Digital Monitoring

* Along with Boost Pressure two additional vehicle vitals can be monitored: Throttle Position, Engine RPM or Vehicle Speed.

Selectable Analog Monitoring

* The digital bar graph can be set to monitor: Boost Pressure, Throttle Position, Engine RPM or Vehicle Speed.

After Image Function

* Users can set the EVC to display the highest boost pressure reached for 3-seconds after the throttle has been released.

Peak Hold

* The EVC will store to memory and keep displayed the maximum boost achieved.

Data Lock

* To prevent accidental data changes from occurring, the EVC can be locked with a user defined four digit code.

Positive LCD display with LED Lighting

* Black foreground with white background and LED lighting provides excellent visibility during both daytime and nighttime use.

Dimmer Function

* Brightness of display can be adjusted for user comfort.

Rear Mounted Wiring harness

* For a clean and simple installation the wiring harness connects to the back of the EVC unit.

2. HKS Turbo Timer:

The number one cause of turbo failure is oil "coking". Oil "coking" occurs when a turbocharger is not properly cooled down and the oil that normally lubricates the center cartridge heats up and forms solidified oil deposits. A turbo timer allows an engine to idle for a preset time after the ignition key has been turned to the off position and removed. --- By allowing a turbocharged engine to idle, oil continues to pass through the turbo until it has cooled down to the point where oil "coking" will not occur. In 1982 HKS was the first company to offer a commercially available turbo timer, and has since been the leader in turbo timer technology.

3. HKS Circle Earth System:

By utilizing a 24 karat gold plated distribution block and multiple grounding points, improved idle and drivability are often obtained as the additional grounding points equalize resistance and voltage between various ground points. Each 8 gauge spiral twined cable is wrapped with signature HKS purple insulation to protect and add colour to the Circle Earth System. Vehicle specific kits included pre-measured cable lengths and distribution blocks.

Circle Plate- The HKS circle plate allows for the freedom to choose the thickness and the number of wires (up to 24 lines) to be used.  Depending on the specific application, either the Separate Type (remotely located from battery terminal) or the Direct Type (directly mounted onto the battery terminal) are utilized.

24K Gold Plating and High Quality Wire- Each of the 8 gauge wires consist of 658 winded 0.12mm lines that allow each wire to withstand up to a maximum of

4. HKS Super Fire Spark Plugs:

HKS Super Fire Racing spark plugs are a series of high performance spark plugs that are designed for high performance street and race applications that can handle high levels of tuning and still be able to offer easy start-ups and smooth idling.

M-Series Super Fire Spark Plugs

HKS M-Series Super Fire Racing spark plugs are high performance Iridium plugs designed to handle advanced levels of tuning and provide Improved ignition performance, durability and anti-carbon build-up

M-Series Super Fire Spark Plugs Feature:

1. 0.6mm Iridium Alloy Center Electrode: Iridium Alloy Center Electrode reduces voltage requirement as well as improving ignition performance and durability.
2. Outer Electrode with Platinum Chip: The Outer Electrode incorporates a square platinum chip which improves durability, and when combined with the iridium center electrode boosts ignition performance.
3. Short Type Outer Electrode (Anti-Vibration): The outer electrode has been shortened and engineered with the ideal shape to decrease weight for resistance against vibration.  This anti-vibration design improves longevity of the outer electrode.
4. Thermal Edge: After long idling or various combustion conditions carbon buildup can occur causing misfires. The Thermal Edge of the ceramic insulator will discharge to help decrease carbon deposits.
5. Spark Support Gap: Discharges will occur in the Spark Support Gap (space between the tip of insulator and the base of the outer electrode) to help prevent carbon buildup.

The Iridium alloy is used because of its durability and reliability.  On an average plug, a narrow core typically shortens life span of plug but with the intense durability of iridium there is no sacrifice in any longevity.  With a high melting point of 2454 degrees C, opposed to the 1769 degrees C of white gold, the electrode can tolerate the high levels of compression and minor knocking without any deterioration. A nickel coating on the housing also prevents the spark plug from premature deterioration.  The Iridium plugs are available for multiple applications and offered in “colder” heat ranges of 7 and up.

All HKS plugs are available individually also.
